T61p SXGA+ screen went bad

#1 Post by danny_isr » Wed Sep 19, 2007 1:13 am

i'm not sure what it is, but i noticed a vertical line (almost an inch) on the middle left of the screen. looks blueish .
i cannot tell if it's On the screen or bad pixels. but i got the feeling it's the screen
i had very dark background till now, and maybe i didnt notice it.

i tried clean this with Windex , doesnt help.

it's there all the time, even when the laptop is off, i can notice it.

anyone ever experience something like this ?

update: after leaving the machine off for an hour and turning it on . it looks purple and clearer . not as dense as before. that is very weird.
over 2 years with the T43 i never seen anything like this...

haha it's definitely not from outside .... it's now almost top to bottom.
about an inch is missing to be vertical all the way.

i guess this monitor is defective...

that sucks. :(   call 800-426-7834 (option 72) for support.   you should get through pretty quickly.

on site tech is on the way. and that is pretty cool.

i called yesterday for the hard drive doing clicking noise , so new HD is on the way.

and i sent yesterday my T43 to replace the fan (started being noisy) and maybe video card (got BSOD on ATIDIVAG)

that's lots of service suddenly :)

i had tech swap the factory seagate HDD for a hitachi 7K100 because of the unmount "marble drop" noise.   i ended up getting a free drive caddy out of the deal. 8)

nice ...

i just find out that they send the HD to the wrong address.
beyond me why customer support people do those mistakes all the time.
the guy sent me two packages (at the SAME time). one empty box for the T43 and the other one the HD for the T61. the empty box went to the right address.
but the HD had half my old address and half my new one

It's pretty easy to figure. Customer Support people are viewed by most companies as a necessary evil (an expense center) therefore they are usually the lowest paid and the most overworked.
