Dvd driver has gone bad?

#1 Post by LasseFJ » Wed Sep 19, 2007 4:50 am

Hi everyone.

I've got a Ibm z61m, 1.66ghz core2 duo, 2048mb ram.

The machine is fitted with a 'HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N ATA' dvd ram drive.

Recently I've been getting problems when writing/reading cd/dvds.

My buddy at school has the same machine, same hardware, and if I try the drive in his machine then all is well.

So that excludes fixing the drive with a firmware upgrade..

My Vista Business has Daemon tools & VmWare (which has some sort of device hook for dvd-drives).

Does anyone have a link for a new driver for this drive or maybe another solution?

Make sure DMA mode is enabled.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
