where to read detail X61 spec

#1 Post by young707 » Wed Sep 19, 2007 7:51 pm

I am unable to find where to read the detail X61 Thinkpad spec.

Is there a CD drive included with the X61 laptop?

If I use a external USB CD drive, can I boot off from this drive?

What happed if the hard drive crashed, how can I re-install?
I have at least 4 IBM/Hitachi laptop drives crashed on me. Its has the death of clicks.

I assume I am require to get a Verizon account to activate the integrated wireless ?

I wrote the Thinkpad web site, and got a form reply. Where can I send questions to their real email address?

Thank you.

X61 and X61s have no internal CD drive, you can either use the Ultrabase docking station or an external USB drive.

It does boot off USB drives. I installed Vista and Ubuntu off an external USB DVD drive.

I believe you can call Lenovo and ask them to send you recovery disks. At least they used to do that.

Please refer to tabook which is a part of FAQs on this forum.

You can give lenovo a call directly at 1-866-96-THINK instead of sending emails.

Yeah, Lenovo is a black hole for e-mails.

I tried to get some detailed information outside of tabook, but I was not able to download it. They have the section of the site where they host documents, but many of the links are broken. I've tried explaining this to the web(un)masters, but like most Lenovo employees, they have been no help.
