Does anyone use a dowload manager or a download accelerator?
None of those you listed. I'm a long-time user (since ver. 0.9 or so) and a huge fan of NetTransport. It has been freeware for a long time, but now unfortunately you have to pay for some of the nice extra features. But you can still get the free version from here:

Don't be shocked when you try to install this, however! This is a version with the original Chinese installer, I wasn't able to locate the release with the English one that quickly. But it will work just fine, even if there appear some strange characters on the user dialogues of the installer and the start menu entry will look a bit strange. You can change that by hand and when you start the program, it will have a full-fledged English user interface.
This is one of the very few (free) downloaders that can even get multimedia files over Microsoft's MMS or Real's RTSP protocol, in most cases the multiple streams feature will also work here. I've always had great results with that when I tried to download some streaming multimedia files from websites.
Bottom line: It's the most advanced and complete download manager I have run across yet, and, best of all, it's free and comes without any kind of ad-ware. Enjoy!
