HGST 7K200 200Gb - SATA speeds

I have a thinkpad T60p, with a 7K100 drive. I need more space, so was thinking about one of the new 200Gb drives.

However I've noticed that the 7K200s come in 1.5 & 3.0 Gbps SATA variants. Now that's pretty artificial as disk is limiting factor, but it seems somewhat strange.

Is there anything else missing on the 1.5Gbps models.

I've managed to find the # HTS722020K9SA00 in stock in the UK, which appears to be a 200Gb model with encryption but only the 1.5 interface.

Also does the T60p have 1.5Gbps or 3.0 Gbps?

nope so just get the cheaper of the 2. no point in spending money on FUD

The HTS722020K9SA00 does not seem to have encryption.

Check the following topic for more information on the drives that do have (haven't been able to find any for sale yet).
