I recently got an IBM Thinkpad T42p with IBM a/b/g wifi nic. I wantet to test Wildpackets Airopeek. Therefore one has to install special drivers for the Atheros based Wifi adapter that support monitor mode.
But I can't install the drivers they are just not accepted. (they are supporting the chipset in my notebook)
I tried this on my fathers T40p with the Atheros based IBM 11 a/b card. It works fine on his notebook.
Did IBM something to the MiniPCI firmware or notebook firmware to make it not work with non-ibm drivers? Does somebody else have the same problem or know something more? (I extra picked a model with the a/b/g card, because I knew it's made by Atheros and I wanted to use Airopeek or any other wifi diagnostic tool)
[Wildpackets Airopeek]
[Atheros drivers supporting monitor mode]
