Most Memory in A30p and A31p?

#1 Post by RWDPLZ » Thu Sep 20, 2007 7:01 pm

Now that I have the A31p up and running, what's the most memory I can add to it? I have a stick of 1GB PC2700 RAM in the A31p right now, IBM FRU 31P9835, and I've heard you can add up to 2GB (so another 31P9835)?

I also have a basket-case A30p coming in the mail that I can hopefully fix, what is the most memory I can add to it? It takes PC133 SDRAM according to the HMM?

According to this:

The A31p will take 2GB of PC2100 (or PC2700) RAM with the latest BIOS upgrade.

The A30p has PC133 RAM, and the maximum for this machine is 1GB.
X61 - 3GB, 80GB SSD

Absolutely right. A31p takes 2 GB PC2100/PC2700 (1 GB max in each slot), and A30 takes in max 1 GB PC133 (512 in each slot).

All PC2100/PC2700 machines that I know of can take 1GB modules, i.e. a computer with two slots supports up to 2GB of RAM.

PC100/133 machines are much more complicated. Some can use 512MB sticks, others can't.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP
