Lucent Win Modem not working on T22

#1 Post by mayidunk » Fri Sep 21, 2007 10:36 am

I just got a refurb T22 to replace my dead T21. My plan was to swap the HDD out of the T21 into the T22, and so far it works, except I can't get the modem to work.

When I boot up using the HDD that came with it, it works great! When I boot up using the HDD out of my dead T21, it still works great, except the modem dosen't work (error 10), and the PCI Serial port shows a big, yellow question mark in Device Manager.

It looks like the Lucent Win Modem can't connect with the system because the PCI serial port is not configured correctly. Using an UltraBay HDD adapter, I mounted the HDD that came with the T22 hoping that I could access whatever drivers it would need, but no luck.

I was able to install the modem with what looks to be the correct driver (version 8.22.0.0). However, it looks like a driver may be needed to get the PCI serial port to work, but I cannot find any drivers on the T22 HDD, and I suspect there may be more to getting it configured than just installing a driver.

The T22 is a type 2647-8EU using Windows 2000. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks,
Bob

Have you installed the Intel chipset drivers on that new HD?

No I haven't done this as I was unaware of the need to do so. The Lenovo site should have the drivers, so I'll go take a look and report back.

Thanks! :)

Quick question... were you referring to the motherboard's chipset?

Yes, he's referring to installing the chipset drivers.

What I would do is:

1. Go get ALL drivers for a T22 from the Levono website. Install ALL of them.

2. Before installing anything in regards to the modem, turn off system, take out the modem, reboot. If anything in regards to the modem is listed under the 'device manager' uninstall or delete it. if 'found new hardware' doesn't pop up, reboot and then it will.

3. install drivers, etc. in regards to the modem.

Been a while since I worked on T2x's but it looks like the older system must have used different chipset/pci drivers/modem drivers than what your current system has. This is the issue as to why you don't swap a HD from a different system into another (but T21 to T22 isn' t a very drastic change).
