Dead G41, No Lights, No Beeps, Nada...

Yes, I did a search on this before I posted. I also read all neccessary pre-posting faqs, and any faqs that seemed pertinent to my situation.

Here's the deal:

I'm an educator and grad student, and I do a fair bit of traveling. I have a 2.4ghz Thinkpad G40 and a Thinkpad G41 with the 3.2ghz processor. I had forgotten my Thinkpad G41 at my home 300 miles away from the University where I work and attend classes. I had my G41 shipped to me and it arrived this morning.

I plugged it into the wall, and I noticed that it wasn't showing that it was charging or that it had a power source connected. When I hit the "Power On" button, the machine did not respond. There are no lights on, there are no beeps.

I then pulled out some spares and tried changing out parts. I changed the CMOS battery to a known good battery. I put in a known good laptop battery, I tried using a known good AC adapter/power unit. I have a backup HD for the G41, and I tried putting that in. Finally I even tried switching out memory with known good PC2700 256mb and PC 2700 1gig chips.

The G41 still is not showing any signs of life, whatsoever. No lights at all, no beeps, no nothing.

I'm at my wits end, here. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I appreciate the resource that this forum provides. Thank you !

If they used insurance to ship it, you might want to see if you can claim it under the shipping insurance...

Is it still under warranty?

After finding out that a new MB is roughly $800, and a used MB goes for $450 or so, I decided to look for another laptop....

I got a guy in computer science to check it out, and he said there was too much damage. He typically repairs notebook motherboards for between $75-$200 depending on what's wrong. He didn't recommend repairing my poor G41...

I got some grant money(I work for a University) so I bought a pair of the close out CTO models, and I must say that a Duo Core T61 is a pretty nice machine.
