Access connections 4.42 problems in T42p

#1 Post by rssb » Sat Sep 22, 2007 10:47 am

I recently upgraded to access connections 4.42 and the driver version 5.3.0.35.

Since then access connections is unable to connect to the wireless router, says unable to power wireless radio. If access connections is uninstalled, the regular windows configuration works fine.

Has anyone else faced the same, any suggestions or ideas. The is a IBM a/b/g II card in a T42p. Are the previous version of drivers available anywhere?

Can anyone post a good working combination of driver version number and access connection version number

Eg: Driver 4.1.100 + Access Connection 4.12 etc..

I have tried various combinations, now nothing works :(

I been using a lot of combinations without problems. Currently use AC 4.42 and driver 5.3.0.35 without any issues.
Unless you already did so you should read the release notes for each driver or software package you install to make sure you follow the requirements. Like AC 4.42 require power management driver 1.42 or higher, hotkey features 1.24.0603 or higher (hotkey 2.x is for Vista only when using a T42p so you should use 1.x unless you use Vista) in addition to the updated wireless driver. You should make you got all the required versions. I would also recommend installing all the other stuff before installing AC which always worked for me.
You could try to uninstall AC and update all the required drivers and then reinstall AC again.

Is it working fine if you use the built-in windows wireless client?

yes it is working fine with in built windows client and driver 5.3.0.35 ( almost all versions of the driver ).

I have downloaded the 3.8.2 version which has both access connections and drivers and that works fine.

I was able to use 4.41 until couple of days so dont know what went wrong all of a sudden. Since then loading the drivers and access connections with the suggested levels on the lenovo site seem to be no working. May be the enitre registry etc.. needs to be cleaned.

Anytime you decide to update the wireless driver, uninstall Access Connections first and reboot, then uninstall your existing wireless driver and install the new one. Reboot, then reinstall Access Connections. Too bad System Update isn't smart enough or capable enough to do this.
