AC Adapter is quite hot
AC Adapter is quite hot
Dear all,
I found that the AC adapter of my T61p is quite hot. I don't think it can be classified as "warm". It will not as hot as going to burn my hand but it seems like "too hot" for me.
Do you find your AC adapter very hot too?
Thanks a lot~

Actually there is a topic on hot AC adapters previously and it nearly resulted into a forum war.apoon204 wrote:Dear all,

AC adapter temp
I'd classify mine as being warm, not hot.

I actually have three power adapters for my T42's. Two of them run quite cool, and the other one runs hotter. So there can be variations, and you may try for a replacement to see if this results in an improvement. Always good to have a spare anyway - one for home and the other for travel.

My T42p AC adapter feels quite cool. The machine overall runs fine, undervolting the CPU. A pleasure to use a Thinkpad compared to other brands.

Dear all,
Sure I am not going to start any war here. I just want to share my experience of my new laptop. I started to use Thinkpad few years ago and my first models is T40. I choose T61p as my next laptop because I love IBM(well yes, not lenovo
). Thus I am not intend to challenge with you guys on Thinkpads.
The reason why I asked if the AC adapter is "very hot" because I really find that it is hot. Just want to know if it is normal for T61p as it consumes more power compare with other models?
So far I love T61p pretty much. Except the brightness issue and it is a bit slow when startup by the way, but I guess it may due to the loading of large number of startup programs.
Thanks a lot~

Re: AC Adapter is quite hot
T61p is a powerful workstation so please make sure whether the AC adapter you're provided with is of 90W or not. Always hot is not good, warm is and occasionally hot is just acceptable.apoon204 wrote:snip.....The reason why I asked if the AC adapter is "very hot" because I really find that it is hot. In IBM days there had been recalls of AC Adapters time to time at 3 numerous occasions. No major issues or complains in lenovo era, so far atleast, apart from little buzzing adapters.
A faulty adapter should be exchanged.

May i know what applications are you using on your T61p and where are you using your laptop (hot or cold place)? My R52 and X60 AC adapters are burning hot but not enough for me to fry an egg..
