Help! T60 stop booting when docked
Help! T60 stop booting when docked
I have my T60 set up on a advanced mini dock most of the time. When I rebooted the system yesterday, it stuck on on the first page (the first image when the power is turned on--the Thinkpad logo). I took it off the dock and it worked fine. Today the same thing happened. So I did a little further testing. It booted just fine on battery and on power, but again got stuck on dock.
I inspected the dock and the computer as thoroughly as I can with naked eye and found no sign of physical damage. I don't see how this can be a software issue either. As far as I know, there is no driver to corrupt for the dock (is there?).
I guess I can just call tech support and get a new dock (it's still in warrenty), but that could be a major hassel since I live in university residence and shipping can be a problem. I don't have much time to spare either. So I'd really appreciate it if you guys can help resolve the problem myself (if possible).

I seem to recall a fix put out by Lenovo for rubber static caps to be placed on the dock. Not your exact problem, but FWIW ...

I don't know much about it, but you can have two different hardware profiles set up in Windows. One for undocked and one for docked. If your dock hardware profile is corrupted, that may cause your problem. The only way I can think of to fix this is to use Windows System Restore.
