You know John Dvorak got it right a little while ago about "old media" trying to keep up/adapt to the internet age and not "getting it". Here's a good example: In the magazine I can quickly find the bottom line in the reviews; which suite is rated the best or recommended. Where's that kind of link in the online article? In the Table of Contents, only the five suites are listed. No conclusion or summary page. And nowhere to be seen is all of the "Editor Ratings" in one place. You have to click on each link to see the rating for that suite or click on the "Print" option, where everything is listed on one long page, again without any kind of summary or graphics. The only explanation that makes sense is that they want you to click through a bunch of pages in order to serve up ads.
I'll wait until the dead tree version shows up in my mailbox

The printed page is so much easier to browse than a multi-page website. And you are right that they don't make it as user friendly as they could because of the ads.
I subscribed to PC Magazine for a number of years. But now with the time I spend online, I do not have much time for reading magazines anymore, so I let my subscription lapse.

I am waiting for ESET to release thier suite next year. If it is anything like NOD32, consider me sold!

RC1 version is already out. I was one of the beta testers till 2b version but stopped when a major bug was discovered that left me with no option other than to wait till the final release.gator wrote:I am waiting for ESET to release thier suite next year. Sorry Off Topic: I can't track it now but AVG was giving away $52 full Internet security version free for 1 yr. just for opening a new ebay account and bidding (never said winning) or buying an item. They called it trialpay or something. I never looked into more details though.

Are mere mortals allowed to post in this thread or is it limited to Moderators?
I've never quite figured out the benefit of one of these suites. That is, if one is using a good firewall, anti-virus, et cetera, what need do these things fill?
On the other hand, I do have friends who don't have the sense to use reasonable precautions before going to the far reaches of cyber space. Something like this probably makes sense for them.

I used to be an anarchist but I quit because there were too many rules
They must be the sole security suite nerdsdsvochak wrote:Are mere mortals allowed to post in this thread or is it limited to Moderators?
