T61P Windows Update Video Driver

#1 Post by GarryF » Wed Sep 26, 2007 8:42 am

There's a new FX570M driver available from windows update but nothing on lenovo site yet.

I'm also being offered bluetooth dated 06/09/07 and Intel gigabit network from 17/9/07 which don't appear on lenovo

I don't trust windows update for this stuff, anyone else tried it?

i've been using it for about two weeks now under vista x64 without issue.   the control panel is totally different than the one in the lenovo-supplied package.   other than that i cannot tell a difference in performance.

EDIT: i just realized that windows update has yet another nvidia update as of today.   i just downloaded and installed it and will report back later.

What version is Windows Update offering? I'm just curious as I am runnning XP on my T61 and am using the original release drivers from May (the last Lenovo has released).

I frequent the web site LaptopVideo2Go, which offers the latest drivers modded to work with mobile NVidia parts. Just today they have posted version 156.65 for all Windows versions (XP 32 and 64, Vista 32 and 64) and they are WHQL and include Lenovo INFs for the NVS 140M as well as the FX 570M.

I usually hesitate to try unsigned drivers that have been modded as they can cause OS problems as well as render certian laptop features unoperable, but these are unmodded Lenovo signed drivers.

Currently my drivers are at 101.33, needless to say they don't run too well with some of the newer games like Bioshock.

according to the device manager in vista x64...

Driver Provider: NVIDIA
Driver Date: 9/19/2007
Driver Version: 7.15.11.5665
Digital Signer: microsoft windows hardware compatibility publisher

since it's directly from nvidia and signed by ms, i'm not too worried about it.
