couple of questions

#1 Post by uncu » Wed Nov 03, 2004 6:13 pm

Need help here...

I have a R32 with 512MB, 40GB hd with XP Pro Service Pack 2 installed.

I have a couple of questions:

1) How can I get delete the rapid restore backups and leave the IBM Service partition with its initial state?

2) After this, how can resize the IBM Service partition and reclaim the unused space? I tried PM v8.0 and it did not work (it complains about the disk geometry)

3) My USB ports seems to be extremely slow. I thought XP Service Pack 2 had the necessary drivers for USB 2.0. I checked the Hardware Manager and there is no sign of USB 2.0

Any ideas??

Are you saying you want to uninstall Rapid Restore Ultra?

Yes, of course.

That's because you don't have a USB 2.0 controller in your computer. It only came with USB 1.1 on-board. USB 2.0 isn't a software upgrade, you need new hardware for it! You can get additional USB 2.0 controllers for your PC-Card-slot if you really depend on the higher bandwidth that the new standard offers.

I have already uninstalled Rapid Restore. However, the backups that it created are still on the IBM_SERVICE partition. What i am asking is "how can I get rid of the rapid restore backups. When I ask this question to IBM Support, they told me that the only way is to erase the whole IBM_SERVICE partition (by using fdisk etc). However, I do not want to lose the original recovery files.
