Lines on screen. Should I send it for repairs?

#1 Post by tinman1412 » Thu Sep 27, 2007 7:54 am

I bought my X61s 2 months ago. For the past several days, when I turn on my screen, there are 2 distinct vertical green lines on my screen. If I lightly tap or move the screen back and forth, it dissapears, but it comes back again if it's in a different position. What should I do?. I can get around it, but I would like it fix. Should I ship it back? Please advise

That doesn't seem right. I'd send it in.

You could take out the keyboard and palmrest to see if the cable's connection is loose from the motherboard. It's pretty easy to open up on the X60s, and I can't imagine the X61 is any different. Just check out the hardware manual online.

If that doesn't work, I'd say send it in.

I had this problem, too. I called the IBM Service and they replaced the screen. After about 4 weeks I had the same problem again. They replaced the screen another time. It is about 3 weeks ago. Maybe I have to call them once more.

I am really thinking about giving my x60 tablet back.

So my advice call them.

My girlfriend had a similar problem with her T41. If I recall it was some "known problem" with the T-series and had to do with the motherboard.

The mighty "GPU" problem. Caused by "improperly" picking up the unit (one handed, etc) due a search this problem has been extensively documented...to this day I think IBM should have placed a "recall" on these similar to the T30 and the memory problems
