T30 Boot Problem

#1 Post by marco1 » Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:57 am

Hi there
I have a T30 2.2ghz that has problems booting if I have my usb external drive hooked up to it. It starts up fine without the usb hooked up and even runs fine if I hook up the usb drive after its booted. Bios is set to boot off the hdd as well as the second and third devices.
Maybe I need a driver installed or is there a setting in the bios which needs adjusting?

Thankyou in advance for your help/advice

Could be an issue of what's on the USB disk drive. If it contains a bootable image then Windows may be getting confused. It's not recommended that you have two bootable drives installed at the same time without also using some sort of boot manager. Not familiar with the T30's BIOS options but if they're anything like the T23, then you should be able to remove selected devices from the boot order. If there's an entry for a USB device, disable it, save the changes, re-boot and see if that helps.

T30 is one of those systems--if your usb drive has some sort of startup stuff on it, like if you plop it in after bootup and a manager of some sort pops up, then that may conflict with the system at bootup, no matter what your settings are.

Can't remember at this exact second, but check in the bios for anything USB related--turn off anything related to bootup.
