I have a 240 with internal wireless as well as a 240X with a PCMCIA wireless card, and I was trying to figure out why the 240X was running so hot compared to the 240. To explain further, the heat was not making the laptop run erratically, it was just hot air coming out around the keyboard and onto my palm as it curled over the track-point. At first I thought the heat was a by-product of the faster bus, or perhaps the Pentium III, since my 240 ran with hardly any heat being expelled at all.
So I removed the PCMCIA wireless and while the X still feels a little hotter underneath than the 240, there is no heat coming out of the top any more! Needless to say, I'll be installing an internal wireless ASAP!
