Can anyone tell me where to find a Memory cross-reference
list between manufacturers? I have discovered that Samsung does make a mem card for my T20, but finding the freaking part number is driving me insane! There is a gent offering 2-256mb sodimm 144pin laptop cards for a REALLY decent price.. yet I cannot find the cross part number to a 33L3069/33L3070 part.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Can anyone tell me where to find a Memory cross-referenc
I'm not quite sure that I understand your questions, but if you are trying to find out if the 33L3069/33L3070 stick will work in your T20, the answer is yes...it will.FIRSTJONTAR wrote:list between manufacturers? Now, if you are asking for Samsung's part number for 33L3069/33L3070, I'm afraid that I don't know. As long as the 256mb sticks are low density (8 chips on each side) PC100 sticks, you should be fine...

I was kind of hoping that there was a master index somewhere as Samsung makes chips for Kingston, Micron makes them for Crucial, etc., that would detail across the board (as there truly aren't that many manufacturers,) what chips were comparable and compatible. I've yet to find a Samsung chart detailing even what they are good for. Same with Micron. While I can get the Micron built chips (aftermarket) from crucial, but they are labled with crucials numbers.. not microns. Really, kind of frustrating.

Most past and present major memory manufacturers (Micron, Samsung, Mitsubishi, Hynix, ProMos, Infineon, et al.) do publish a list of how their part numbering system is supposed to work. You can usually find them at the company's web site. Back in the day of "dead tree" databook distributions, some of those memory manufacturers also published cross-reference guides for their products. A little bit of Googling around ("samsung sdram memory module part numbering system") and you should be able to find something like this:
http://www.dewassoc.com/performance/mem ... _pc133.htm
Embedded in that long article is a now-dead link to Samsung's part number reference. If you poke around the main page and follow the obvious links to Memory and SDRAM, you should find this:
http://www.samsung.com/global/business/ ... mly_id=122
In the right column is a link to a .PDF file for "part number decoder" which does not seem to work for me (could be a dead link or my Firefox-Adobe Acrobat combination). In any event, there's an SODIMM link at the left and an EOL (end-of-life, i.e., obsoleted) link. For your specific request, you will need to go to the EOL list, find the SDRAM>Module>SODIMM listing and those modules will be low density version (4K/64ms in the Refresh column).
edit: Finally got the Samsung Module Code Information .PDF to download properly (after which Firefox crashed; aside: nice of FF to be able to recover all of the tabs!). It lists a lot of stuff that unless you are familiar with DRAM technology/terminology is fairly useless.
edit2: Oh, and as far as a cross-reference list is concerned, I'm still looking for one.
edit3: Found one published by Micron a few years back (2/2001) but it only covers the individual memory components on the module:
http://www.mscbp.hu/download/Micron/X_R ... ram201.pdf
Also found a site which lists modules made by several manufacturers but it's not really a cross-reference in the sense that you look at one table with everyone's part number on it. Rather, it's a group of links which let's you find out information about various modules (part number, size, organization, speed, etc.):

Yes. Quite a popular part number for a low density 256MB PC100 stick which will work in the T20, T21, T22, 600X, 600E, etc.FIRSTJONTAR wrote:<snip>... I think I'll ask here... has anyone used this chip ( or tried) in a T20/T21/T22? MT16LSDF3264HG-10EE4
edit: I should add that this particular Micron module is functionally equivalent to the 33L3069/33L3070 IBM FRU.
