Fn + F5 works for bluetooth but not wireless mpci

#1 Post by wogeboy » Fri Sep 28, 2007 3:49 pm

OK..
I installed the Hotkey software from IBM.. (T42)
I am able to toggle off/on my bluetooth but the hotkey does not show my wireless card (atheros) as an option to turn on or off....

It only shows wireless radio...

Any ideas??

Not sure I understand - Fn F5 shows the wireless card but won't turn it off?

The hotkey only lists the bluetooth radio ..does not even list the atheros wirless card as an option...very odd

The atheros is an IBM part (orig was 2200 b/g)

Why don't you try uninstalling the wireless driver software, then install the latest version. The driver below is for Windows XP and Windows 2000. If you use Access Connections, uninstall that first, reboot, then uninstall the wireless driver, now you can install the latest wireless driver, reboot, then reinstall Access Connections. Note that Access Connections must be at version level 4.11 or higher to work with this card.

Ahh, thats better. The newer driver/software did the trick.
Its back to working as it should.

Thanks!

FYI --- the Fn+F5 key turns off and turns on and off the bluetooth even in pure dos or without any other OS.

The wireless card does not, may be they deliberately left it out of the bios to be controlled by the wireless driver software/ access connections.
