BSOD at XP shutdown

#1 Post by dok_indo » Fri Sep 28, 2007 4:04 pm

I did a clean install of XP on my R61, but I seem to have gotten this blue screen problem at shutdown.

I used the Thinkpad system update utility and Windows Update. Both indicate I have the latest drivers and Windows patches.

Everything else seems to work fine, so it's not a big deal...but it is annoying.

Any troubleshooting tips?

Welcome to the thinkpads dot com support community.

What do you have in event viewer for errors?

Thank you.

I just shutdown, got the blue screen, turned off/on, and went to event viewer. I don't see any errors listed under the system category. All the entries listed are successful.

Did your R61 come with Turbo memory? Do you have any additional (other than lenovo factory) memory installed?

One searched thread for your perusal.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Thank you.

I have read that thread and downloaded the msft ppt. Nothing specific to help with my problem, other than stating that the problem is"Usually caused by buggy device drivers, or services from backup utilities or virus scanners"

Don't have turbo memory, only 2gb factory installed ram.

This http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=45078 thread sounded relevant, but no luck with the proposed solutions. (Device manager doesn't list any problems in my case).

I don't want to do it but I may eventually go back to Vista since the other problem that is now occurring is intermittent inability to hibernate.
