a22m randomly locks up (freezes)

#1 Post by Kylerobhew1 » Sat Sep 29, 2007 11:41 am

hey y'all just popping in to see if any one can help me out I'm having some problems with my comp just randomly freezing up on me. It can be wile I'm trying to type or just out of the blue after moving a scroll bar. It has been doing this since i got it and i cant find any answers anywhere and its getting really frustrating to the point were I'm about to turn my a22m thinkpad into an a22m pool-anchor. The problem hasn't been consistent with any actions preformed on my pc (ie. things like Firefox and aim) its just completely random. My own personal hiatus is thats its being caused by a bad sector on my hd that is located on an important system file because when it freezes it doesn't do any thing even the sound locks up into an infinite looping skip if your listening to music. theres no signs that its going to happen either it just happens. And at that point i know its time to just hold down the power button and loose all my work which in most cases turns out to be like 5 or 6 hours of hard work on fruity loops or acid music studio(those examples=tedious long slow work).
She thinks my thinkpad's sexy

Run PC-Doctor for DOS on it, run all tests.

As an additional test run and loop memtest86 for a few hours.

On both programs, look for failed tests/errors.
