No sound

#1 Post by Sand » Sun Sep 30, 2007 10:16 am

Could anyone tell me why I have no sound? It just seemed to happen suddenly. I've tried the Access IBM site and the sound Icon on the desktop but can't make it come back.

I have the T42 2379 DXU.

Thanks,
San

Simple things first: is it possible you bumped the mute button (to the left of the power volume) or lowered the volume all the way (button next to access IBM)

Try a pair of headphones connected to the headphone jack.

GOMJABBER,

I tried the headphones and still no sound. Could you tell me what are some of the reasons I would lose sound? Even if the headphones had worked, why wouldn't I get sound without them?

Thanks,
Sand

The same thing happened on my Z61t. I was playing a dvd movie and it was too loud so I pressed the mute button and then pressed the volume down button to decrease volume.. Anyway the next day when I tried increasing the volume nothing happened. I had to reformat and install XP over my Vista and then install Vista again to solve this problem because nothing in system update seemed to fix things.

Anyway this also happened to my friend's N series.

Hi All,

Just as suddenly as the sound stopped, it came back. I still don't know what caused it to do either.

Could someone tell me how to follow some of these ideas, like how to find the Device Mgr., couldn't find Themes and Devices under Cntrl Panel. Also, what is 'events' and where to find, just in case this happens again?

Thanks to all who answered my questions,
Sand
