quick act. File Explorer

#1 Post by stabu » Thu Nov 04, 2004 6:53 am

Hi,

I just got a new T41, and its my first IBM thinkpad. As an intensive user of the windows key, especially <win>+m, to minimise all, and <win>+e to activate File Explorer, the thinkpad's keyboard has slowed me down.

Now, I *am* aware of a special program I can download, so I can designate another key to be the <win> equivalent, but I was thinking that the <win> key may not be the only keyboard shortcut for these 2 tasks.

I want to know if there are *native* thinkpad shortcuts for these (and, indeed, any other) tasks. Suggestions?

you can download the keyboard customiser and map the windows and the "application" key to whatever you want.

I don't know if it's preinstalled on the T41, but on my T42, under START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESS IBM There is something called KEYBOARD CUSTOMIZER UTILITY. I made my right ALT key the windows key. It works great.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies, although I was trying to work out things *without* using the Keyboard Customiser.

Why? Well I also have an IBM SK8088 USB keyboard, and it has 2 <win> keys. So I thought that the T41's keyboard must be hiding it somewhere.

I'm intrigued as to why the T41 doesn't have a <win> key
