PCMCIA device is better idea. It sticks out less than USB device. It has better range and you can improve your range additional when you attach external aerial. I think that pcmcia device saves more power. Its my point of view. It may be sth wrong with it what i said, so someone can correct me.

The "N" "Standard" isn't really finalized yet, so if you buy an "N" card you might be throwing your money away.
Since you don't know if it will work with other Pre-N equipment or "N"-standard equipment when the standard finalizes.

It depends on the commitment of the manufacturer. Those people that bought "Pre-N" equipment 2 years ago are screwed, even though the likes of D-Link said a firmware update would come to make it certified.
Draft 2.0 derived equipment is the final one put forth, and probably the one to be ratified (did I spell that right? ) by IEEE.
"Pre-N" stuff made with the Draft 1.0 in mind will not be firmware upgradable due to a hardware change in the Draft 2.0.
So yes, buying "Pre-N" NICs now, would probably work. - Provided that you buy it from a reputable manufacturer, that will deliver the promised firmware update.
But as it is now, there is NO GUARANTEE that Pre-N wireless cards will work with Pre-N gear made by another manufacturer.

Just bought an EnJoy Technology China made PCMCIA 802.11B+G+ Super G 108M Wireless LAN WiFi Card, it came with a D-Link G-650 driver. After installing this card my X21 system always got freeze on monitor and mouse pointer, sometimes the freeze came after sysytem boot into winXP SP2, I tried to stick some adhesive tape on the back of the cardbus to prevent it from heated up so fast and sometimes it can surf for few hours before it got hung again. Everytime I need to press power button to "off" the system and press on the power button again to "on" back the system. Afew incident microsoft reported to me that something is wrong with my RAM or I need to upgrade my BIOS, could it be that?
But if I use back my previous USB wireless adapter, system works fine, nothing freeze.
I am wondering could it be the CardBus get too hot and it has a sensor to trip it and thus, causing my sytem to hang.
Or could it be due to a wrong driver being installed or a defective PCMCIA Cardbus?
Anyone have this experience before with PCMCIA wireless??
Thank you
