Bluetooth headset
Bluetooth headset
Hello!
I'm trying to use my Bluetooth headset with my ThinkPad. It basically works OK except it presumably is necessary to pair the headset and the notebook at each usage. This is obviously utterly odd as pairing should only be necessary the first time. Do some of you know if it's really necessary to pair each time or am I doing something wrong?
Best regards,
Henrik Dahl

Does it mean you may do this:CZOLG wrote:I only needed to pair my headset just once. The headset is Nokia HS-36W but I doubt it would make any difference.
The only thing that has to be remembered is powering the BT radio on first, then the BT headset.
It works flawlessly every time on my machine.
1) Both are powered off.
2) Boot notebook.
3) Ensure the Bluetooth radio is on using FN+F5.
4) Switch on the Bluetooth headset.
5) Observe that the headset and the computer are now connected.
Is that correct?
When do you need to press the lift handset button on the headset?
Which version number does it read on your computer in Bluetooth Neighborhood -> Help -> On Bluetooth Neighborhood, first line?

Henrik Dahl
That is correct.hdahl wrote:

I am not sure if I understand this. I use my headset for skype. I press this button to end a conversation. Of course I use this button to turn on my headset. Point 4, that is.hdahl wrote:

Sorry, I do not know what you mean.hdahl wrote:

It's actually also Skype I would like to use it for. Does it mean you've managed to make Skype work like this:CZOLG wrote:hdahl wrote:
1) Skype rings using your PC speaker.
2) You press the lift handset button on the Bluetooth headset to answer.
3) You press the lift handset button on the Bluetooth headset again to hang up.
I mean which version do you use of Bluetooth Neighbourhood which you may see in the help about box? Mine is 4.0.1.3000.
Best regards,

By Bluetooth Neighbourhood do you mean "My Bluetooth Spaces"?hdahl wrote:I mean which version do you use of Bluetooth Neighbourhood which you may see in the help about box? Mine is 4.0.1.3000.
The most current version of the WICOMM Bluetooth stack for Windows XP is 5.1.0.3600..... though to get to that you need to download the latest Lenovo version and then apply an update which is available directly from the Broadcom web site.
Cheers,
Bill B.

Thank you very much for helping me. May you be so kind to tell where to find the stuff at the Broadcom web site, please?
Concerning the name of the product: I have a Danish version so I have to guess a bit what its name is in English. I'm sorry I did not indicate that and hereby caused the confusion.
Best regards,
Henrik Dahl
I used the BT driver for Windows XP provided by Lenovo. I did not apply any updates from Broadcom.
I cannot recall the version right now, as I switched to Vista.
However, three weks ago it was a most recent driver available from the Lenovo website.
As for the Skype:
I never have people calling me so I cannot comment on asnwering, but yes I use the headset button to hang up.
hdahl, are you from Denmark?
Been there many times in the city of Arhus, I really love it

It's very nice to hear from you again.
After I upgraded to the newest version everything trivially works as a charm! It's amazing it has been made to work as poorly as it did in the earlier version.
Yes, I'm from Denmark. I even live in Aarhus, actually in the area known as Risskov. It's very nice to hear that you like the place.
Best regards,
Henrik Dahl
