More T6* Ghosting issues with Ghost 11 and T61

#1 Post by jenniever » Mon Oct 01, 2007 3:17 pm

I'm posting only because I've scoured everything I've been able to find on this and I'm feeling a bit lost.

We just purchased 43 T61's which we were planning on imaging with Ghost Solutions Suite 11. Right now, to minimize time, I'm just trying to get it to work in the Slave/Master mode off the boot CD over TCP/IP.

After imaging, the slave always goes back to that familiar black screen with the blinking underscore.

We've removed Rescue & Recovery, tried it with the -ib switch, tried setting the drives to compatibility from achi, which we were hoping would be the answer, but still, no dice. Has anyone successfully imaged a T6* series with Ghost 11? Or does anyone have anything else we might want to try?

What OS are you using? And is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

Your problem may be related specifically to the T61. I have successfully ghosted my t60p many times using Ghost2003 when it had XP installed and more recently ghosted Vista and restored it to a new drive with absolutely no problems using Ghost 11. I am not using networking to ghost, I find it much to slow. I have used usb external housings and ultrabay drive trays with great success.

In the event you may be having specific problems with Ghost 11 and the T61, you might also try using the following:

- Ghost Solution Suite 2.0,
- Acronis TrueImage 10.

These have both been used successfully imaging Vista (and XP) on the T6x series.
T42__1.8 / 160GB-5400 / 1GB / ATI7500
T42__1.5 / 160GB-5400 / 1.2GB / ATI7500

Ghost Solution Suite 2.0 contains Ghost 11

Acronis Trueimage has a 30 day free trial I believe.

Rather then using the network to ghost try burning the image to DVDs with a burner in the ultrabay. And use the -ib commandline option. Before restoring the image use gdisk to wipe all the partitions on the destination drive.
