X60s 3GB Ram

#1 Post by ADD » Mon Oct 01, 2007 5:06 pm

Hi all,

First just to say great forum, full of useful information. I've been a ThinkPad user for a while now and currently used an X60s 17045UG with Vista Business after replacing my R40e.

I've been using Vista since I got my free upgrade earlier this year, however I've found my computer runs low on memory more and more. So I decided at the weekend and ordered 3GB RAM direct from Crucial to speed things up which should arrive by the end of the week.

Just thought I would ask, is there any benefit which slot the 2GB simm goes into?

Out of interest how long do most people’s ThinkPad X60/s take to boot up? My seems to take ages and I've stopped stuff which I don't need to boot up using system configuration.

Thanks

Adam

The slots are equivalent. It does not matter which memory goes in each.

Stopped stuff means you stopped running services or you have uninstalled the programs?

try using only ONE partition and then using UltimateDefrag, which is a disk defragmentor. Whats different is that you can defragment the harddisk and shift all the less utilised files to the center of the harddisk. At the outer rim, it will place all the most used files, in the sequence that you would like.

For example, window files go to the outer most. Because the outer most track is continuous and fastest, your 'startup' would also be faster

For ULTIMATE speed right now, get a SSD Nand harddisk B-)
Do what is important, not what is urgent
