R51 audio level seems to be less

#1 Post by aditya1956 » Tue Oct 02, 2007 2:18 am

My R51's (the details are at the bottom of this mail) audio level seems to be less compared to my T20. The same audio clip sounds quite low in the R51. What the T20 sounds at 50% of the volume level setting is achived at the maximum setting for the R51.

I had purchased it on the ebay almost in a new-like condition except that it had no recovery partition. So I procured a set of Recoery CDs from IBM and went for a full factory-like installation, which it did without a hitch. After that I downloaded all the updates both from Microsoft and IBM and it was fully functional.

Then I noticed the volume to be very very low. A few days later I checked and suspected the driver to be the wrong one, so I downloaded the recommended one and it surely improved quite a lot and sounded somewhat normal. But still when compared to my T20, it seems to be quite low.

My point is whether it the designed behaviour for the R51 or I might have some other hardware problem like bad speakers etc. The R51's hardware seems to be the same as the T4x series AFAIK, but I do not have any direct experience with a T4x about the audio behaviour. The T20's sound is astounding, almost jarring at the maximum level !

Thanks
Aditya
