tvtsched.exe keeping CPU at 50-100%... Help!

#1 Post by scrawledinwax » Tue Oct 02, 2007 1:11 pm

Hi all,

I am running into a frustrating problem with my X61 running Vista w/ a T7300 and 2GB. The 'Thinkvantage Scheduler' or tvtsched.exe is constantly slowing my laptop to a crawl, keeing CPU usage at 50%, sometimes even at 90-100% for extended periods of time. This isn't just a blip - this is for 20 or 30 minutes. I don't see how to disable it using msconfig so any help as to what's going on would be really really appreciated.

I didn't change the TVTShed.exe in startup. I ran SERVICES.MSC from the run command and changed the setting from automatic to manual. This seems to help.

You're right - it definitely made a difference. Thank you! :)

I wonder if Lenovo know about this - to me this seems like a pretty serious problem.

Thanks again.

Before I saw this post, I ran into the same problem and did the same thing to fix it. I had the problem on an X41 Tablet and a T43. The common point I found is that both machines had fingerprint readers with no prints enrolled. I contacted Lenovo and opened a case.

On my X61s, I do have prints enrolled in the fingerprint reader, so I don't think that it has anything do do with this problem.
