Power Cable

#1 Post by ZaZ » Wed Oct 03, 2007 11:39 pm

I lost the power cable, just the part that goes from the adapter to the socket, I wondered if anyone knew where to get one? Thanks for any help.

Do you mean the 16V line to the computer or the 110/22V AC line? I assume the latter, since all the AC adapters I've seen have the 16V line permanently attached to the AC power supply.

In that case, the AC line has one of two types of plugs on the AC power supply: a standard truncated pyramid or a so-called "mouse ears" plug. Both should be easy to get. Practically any computer comes with the truncated pyramid cord nowadays and I would think any computer or electronics shop would have them and might even give it to you, since they often just lie around the place.

The "mouse ears" plug is harder to find, but still not difficult. I'd ask here in the Marketplace, surely someone has one for you.

The two-pin ("figure 8") or three-pin ("cloverleaf" or "Mickey Mouse") cords can usually be picked up from general electronic stores (Radio Shack, Fry's, Best Buy, etc.) or sometimes even hardware stores.

Didn't realize they made the two-pin connectors anymore. And maybe the truncated pyramid I described is only common in Europe. Thanks for the added information, Ray.

The "truncated pyramid" is usually for monitors, desktop power supplies, electric kettles and stuff like that. Laptop power supplies usually use either the "8" or the "cloverleaf".

Thanks for the info. Best Buy or Radio Shack tend to be pretty expensive for these things. I was hoping to pick on up cheap online. I don't need it right away. I can charge my notebook in the dock.
