TPM password clear

#1 Post by dtw56 » Fri Oct 05, 2007 11:11 am

After numerous problems with Vista, XP was reinstalled. However none of the ThinkVantage software came with it. So I updated everything off the Lenovo site. Everything worked fine until it came to updating "Client Security Solution."

Now when I reboot I'm asked to enroll in the "Client Security Solution" but when I put in the new password it then asks me for the original password, which I don't know. The software says I can "clear TPM using the BIOS setup utility".

Can anyone give me instructions on how to do that? Or provide a link to the instructions?

Thanks.

I believe you need to first uninstall CSS in XP, this should then enable a different screen in the BIOS. Power cycle the T6x and press F1 when you first see the IBM logo. The first screen has an option for Security, under this option is an additional option that offers to allow you to reset the TPM. As I recall there are two different options in the BIOS one says something to the effect clear the fingerprints, the other is clear the TPM you want the second option.

Hope that helps.

Uninstall CSS

Ah, thanks. It was the "uninstall CSS" part that I was missing. Great, I'll give that a try.

Thanks again.
