Battery Wont Charge

#1 Post by zxsuxr » Fri Oct 05, 2007 11:49 am

My company issued me a new expanded 6 cell? (the larger size) battery for my laptop. My battery gauge recognizes at 91%, but it does not want to charge it. It stays on AC power without the bolt of lightning going through (charging). My Ulta bay has the same problem sometimes. After several removals of the Ulta bay battery it will start to charge. I have rebooted numerous times and still no changes

thanks

Run the laptop on battery only until it reaches ~50% then plug in the AC adapter and see if it begins to charge. Depending upon what type of T4x system you have, it may be possible to change the percentages at which the charging will begin and end (i.e., "trip points"). It appears that T40/T41 systems are hardwired with this information but T42s can be adjusted using the Power Manager/Battery MaxiMiser software.

The problem was my new battery was flipping out, it caused the battery gauge to read 91% when it was actually 98%-100%. My charge threshold was 96%. Im not sure if its the battery or the program. After a few removals it recognized it at 98% i let it discharge to 94% then plug it in and it worked!
