Battery overheated...hard drive damaged or not?

#1 Post by BSI » Sat Oct 06, 2007 3:58 pm

I have T60 2613-CTO less than a yr old....the battery seemed to be loosing staying power and getting warm...got a message from IBM that battery overheated and needed replacement...having to continue to use it that same day on battery power and stepping away from it a minute, it shut down and crashed...

called IBM and when running the Bios Setup Utility, it could not read any Hard Drive installed...they said your HD is gone, data lost and they sent me new HD and battery...installed new battery and "original" HD and the dang thing came back on and works?

ran HD diagnostic from Bios Setup and it checked out...anyone have any advice on what I should do or have checked out?...if you do not send back old HD to them, do they contact you about it?

thanks
Cordially,
Louie

You may be charged for the replacement CRU if your Service Provider does not receive the defective CRU within thirty (30) days of your receipt of the replacement.
