2645-4AU won't boot into BIOS

#1 Post by joester » Sun Oct 07, 2007 1:58 am

Hi fellow TP junkies...
Got my hands on a 600E today, and besides having a hammered (literally...as in back side of an axe) HDD, it seems OK and works well after fitting a 2GB drive I had laying around and installing W2K, I find I can do almost anything except enter BIOS setup. F1, F2, <esc>, nothing works.

Any ideas on how to edit my BIOS?

Also, after the great success restuffing my T21 battery, I want to restuff the one for my 600. Any idea how the darn case opens up?
The T21 snaps together, but this one seems glued. :?

TIA.
Joe

Gotta hold down the F1 key, power up, and keep holding the F1 key until the memory check is finished (about 6-7 seconds). The 600 battery case is welded or glued together. There's at least one post here that mentions something about sliding a knife around the seam and prying the case apart.

Thanks Ray.

I'll try that as soon as W2K finishes updating....

You wouldn't know where I might get a copy of the recovery CD for this thing, would you?

BTW: I'm using wireless on it right now, and all seems to be functional! :D

The 600E shipped with Win98 or NT4 or no hard drive at all. If you really want a recovery CD for one of those, good luck to you.
