remove Thinkpad Access Support if your wifi locks up on you

#1 Post by kenyee » Mon Oct 08, 2007 9:07 am

If you have intermittent wifi lockups (data transfer stops so you have to disable/enable wifi to get it to work for a while again), go into Add/Remove programs and uninstall Thinkpad Access Support (the supposedly "we can make wifi more friendly") app from IBM :-P

I found this in an old wifi thread, but through it merited a separate thread.

The laptop is a thinkpad T61 w/ the Thinkpad A/B/G adapter, but I doubt it makes any difference...

Are you asking for help or is this just a tip from you to other users with this kind of wireless problems? Not sure if i understand what you are asking for or trying to say with this post.

But i find it hard to believe uninstalling AC will make a difference for this kind of problem.

It's a tip for users w/ this kind of wifi problem.

I only find it slightly hard to believe. The Thinkvantage Access Connections software tries to make it easier for you to find wifi networks, etc. so it has to insert itself into the built-in OS wifi support. It's also mentioned in that wifi thread in this forum that I can't find :-P

At any rate, after I did this, my T61's wifi has been solid...
