Battery question

#1 Post by DranK » Tue Oct 09, 2007 11:15 am

My brand new 6 cell (92P1139)

Designed Capacity: 56.16 Wh
Full Charge Capacity: 55.96 Wh

Is this normal? I thought full charge should be equal to designed?

Thanks

It's normal. A battery is just an on-going chemical reaction that causes on-going deterioration until the battery is dead (about 3 years). ... JDH

Thank you. I ordered it from Lenovo and just inserted it a few hours ago, so it is literally brand new. Manuf. Date 7/2007. Still normal?

batteries are often said to need a few recharge cycles to reach their full capacity so I'd say yes

Does the 'full charge capacity' changes, or self adjusted, after every charge? I thought you have to run gauge reset to make it up to date.

It sounds correct to me. I don't think any of my TP batteries have ever registered exactly at the "designed capacity"

I saw most people get a little over the design capacity. But mine is a little below. Wounding if I should do a gauge reset.

A gauge reset will put one usage cycle on the battery. For just a "little below" there's really no point, IMO.
