problems with the accelerometer

I used to post here a lot during the summer but my old account was disabled due to inactivity, and my old e-mail was inaccesible. But anyway, I have a very strange probelm with my laptop. Its a T42 2379-DXU and I bought it about 5 months ago. Its been working fine and dandy up until 2 weeks ago. When I don't use my computer in my dorm room, the computer will freeze very often and basically be rendered inoperable. Whenever I use it in my dorm room its absolutely fine. It sounds stupid but thats exactly how it is. I believe it could be the accelerometer device that is fowling up the whole computer because anytime i even slightly jolt it, the computer will go nuts. I also use an adapter that I bought off of ebay that was designed for older models but still works fine for the T42s when I'm not in my room. However if i jolt it or do anyhting to my laptop when I'm in my dorm while using the standard adapter, it works absolutely fine. I'm thinking that the voltage output or something in the adapter i got off of ebay is the source of the problem. what do you guys think?

Interesting idea. When this happens, does the active protection system icon react?

What if you disable it from the control panel? Does it still bug out? I would try to test out a few of your hypotheses by taking the AC adapter from your dorm and trying it elsewhere, or running off another AC in your dorm, might help you narrow down the culprit.

Even if I disable Active Protection on the control panel, it won't help. I'm guessing the accelerometer is still active and still feeds info to the computer, but when you disable if in windows the program just chooses to ignore it. I'm doing some testing right now and i realize that it will foul up if the computer is jolted around for an extended amount of time no matter where I am. I suppose I'm just going to have to send it in for repairs.
