T60p w/Vista 64 waking up with lid closed.

#1 Post by jgrobertson » Wed Oct 10, 2007 4:13 pm

I find that with the T60p running Vista 64 (all updates from MS & Lenovo installed) it will wake from sleep with the lid closed, if an external mouse is moved. After a bit it will go back to sleep.

Seams that with the lid closed, and no external monitor, it should not wake up unless the lid is opened.

I don't know if this is a T60 problem or Vista 64 problem or Lenovo driver problem.

Follow this:

Right click My Computer > Properties > Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices > Right Click your HID-Compliant mouse > Power Management > uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer".
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."

Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Thanks but I know about that. On my T20, T30, T43, (all running XP) the mouse will bring it out of sleep if the lid is open or closed with an external monitor but not if the lid is closed without an external monitor.

On this T60p running Vista 64, it does not work that way.

i just tested this on my thinkpad under vista ultimate x64 and it works as advertised regardless of the lid being open or closed.   in the device manager did you look for your mouse under the "Mice and other pointing devices" branch?   you should be able to control its power management from there with no problem.

It works. But it should not wake the computer up with the lid closed but only with the lid open unless, it is running on an external monitor.

mouse power mgt & related power issue

#6 Post by johnp126 » Fri Oct 12, 2007 9:10 pm

Wow thanks! I had same issue with this neat new logitech nano mouse, the usb receiver is so small you want to leave it on but it was waking up the system. thanks for the help. Another question I have a problem where it thinks medial player is running even though i have not started it and it messes up sleep /resume. also problem that i can no longer run system update it says it can't run and wants to restart but with 3.02 its in a loop, in 3.00 it just stops. still having odd vista issues with this t61p, never had issues like this with t60p and vista ultimate (32bit versions).
