(LOCK it UP)-Gateway for a friend(pic and link to specs)

A friend of mine wants to get a Thinkpad.So he asked me to sell his Gateway laptop for him.
He has....
Gateway MX3560.nice fast laptop.
-Intel® Centrino 1.7Ghz , 2 meg cashe(735 dothan cpu)
-intel Pro 2200 B and G wireless(miniPCI)
-512 bulit in DDR 333 ram(one open slot,1.5Gigs max)
-3 USB 2.0 slots
-firewire slot
-flash card reader(SD,MS,MMS)
-intel video
-80gig 4200rpm (still almost 7 or 8 months warrenty left,have to check to be 100%)
-duel layer DVD-rw burner
-little over 5lb's
-14.1 wide screen LCD(1280x768?)WXGA Very bright.Better , brighter then my 17" CRT monitor.
-All manuals and recovery CD/DVD with XP Home
-ac adapter

There are one or two things to note with this system.
Battery is not the best.Mobile meter shows 45% ware.Some times it takes over night to charge the battery.But once it's charged it will last about 1 1/2 hr's,maybe little longer.But i think there is something wrong with the battery and needs new one.
There are a few (like 3 or 4) sticky keys.They still work and dont stick down or anything,just not like the rest of the keys.Just needs the few keys cleaned,I dont want to break anything so i'm not touching it.
There are very very few minor scratches.

He wants $300.00 + shipping from Canada
OR will trade for Thinkpad of same value.He knowes he wont get the same specs into a thinkpad as this Gateway,but he's just wants some offers on Thinkpads.
He has some DDR ram here so he will also look at a thinkpad without ram.

Price bump and more info on trade...

My buddy said to me today he will sell it for $290.00 shipped.
OR...
Will trade for a full working Thinkpad in the value of 290.00.
Even a nice T23 and a few bux for trade.
He's like me , open to alot of diffrent laptops.Like if it's a nice system but no ram or no hard drive,ect.As long as the value is about the same.

But my buddy picked up the Gateway this morning and now i'm not sure if he wants to sell it or make a trade.
