T41P defaults to blue screen or black screen on boot up

#1 Post by huck » Thu Oct 11, 2007 10:12 am

My buddy installed 512mb memory and now it boots to a blue screen or black screen nothing else. It was working fine before memory swap. Any ideas. He has removed and reinstalled memory and no luck.

I hope it was unplugged with the battery removed before the memory was installed. Try resetting it. Remove the battery and unplug it. Push the power button 10 times, holding it a full 10 seconds on the last one. Perhaps something was unplugged when the memory was installed. Which slot did you put the stick into?

Was this adding extra memory upgrade to the laptop, or replacing the installed memory (old) inside the laptop with the 512MB (new) module?

If you followed richk´s advice and still no go and it was an extra memory upgrade, then try to remove the installed memory (old) and install it again. This might requiere to remove the keyboard since you need to reach the internal memory expansion slot.
