On my T60: could I compress some unused IBM folders"

#1 Post by mgo » Thu Oct 11, 2007 11:38 pm

Rather than delete the folders below and risk any problems, why not use Windows to compress these folders? Wouldn't that save a few hundred megs of hard drive space?

a) SWSHARE
b) SWTOOLS
c) drivers
d) valueadd
e) SUPPORT
f) I386

Since those folders are mostly dormant and are just backups shouldn't this work? If the computer needed something from them they would still be available, I assume.

Comments and advice appreciated.

MOD EDIT: Moved from X6x forum to T6x.

Sure, why not compress those folders. I don't think you'll recover much disk space since most of the files are binaries which don't usually compress well but I don't think it will effect your performance negatively in any way. Definitely worth a shot imo.
