SOLD: T42 1.7GHz 1GB 80GB DVDRW 14" SXGA+

#1 Post by syedj » Fri Oct 12, 2007 3:07 pm

I have decided to let go of my personal T42 that I have had for almost 2 years now in order to move to a 15" UXGA display.
Product: ThinkPad T42 2373-3VU

Original description: P M 735, 512MB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD,
64MB ATI Radeon 9600, CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner, Intel 802.11b/g wireless(MPCI), Modem(CDC),
1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, 6 cell Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro
Battery Cycle count: 57

The RAM has been upgraded to 1GB (single SO-DIMM).

Its out of warranty since July of this year but just before the warranty expired, I had the LCD, keyboard, top panel, hinges, palm rest and optical drive changed so it looks and feels almost brand new. The only issue it has is a chip on the bottom panel that a (closed) Swiss Army knife caused while the laptop was in the bag along with the knife in the same compartment. This chip doesn't in any way effect the working of the laptop though. I didn't get the bottom panel changed under the warranty in order not to lose the COA and other useful stickers. For over a year I have used it for perhaps 10/15 times. Its been sitting in the closet since I have been using my work T43p virtually exclusively.

Pictures available upon request.

$525 plus actual shipping to CONUS, Canada and Europe.

Exceptional machine from a VERY trustworthy seller...probably as close as you'll get to a NEW T42 several years after the production ended...

Best of luck with the sale, Syed. Not that you'll need it with your good name on this forum and a fine ThinkPad like this...

I second George's comments.

Syed is as good as a forum member can be.

I highly recommend Syed.

just wondering if this machine has a flexview screen. I purchased a r50 off this forum a few months ago and love the screen. Now one of my sons is interested in purchasing a computer for himself, but I would like to see him stay with thinkpads and flexview!

Unfortunately, FlexView screens only come in 15" format (the only exception being 12" on a X41 tablet), this machine is a 14".

Haven't I told you that these were addictive back then?

If your son could live without one, this machine and its present owner have my highest recommendations. No disappointment when you deal with Syed, ever.

Thanks George and Brad.

George is right. Unfortunately his machine doesn't have flexview display - which only came in 15" size with SXGA+ and UXGA resolutions and the 12" XGA display for X41t. After using my T43p with 15" flexview UXGA for many many months I am also completely spoiled by it.

The machine that wearetheborg mentioned is a very good deal and the seller Harryc is very trustworthy - saying that from personal experience in dealing with him.

O, and the machine is pending sale now.
