Hi everyone. I'm a bit new around here (Had my Thinkpad x60 tablet for around 6 months now), and have a question regarding the recovery dvd sets that Lenovo ships out.
Somehow I nuked my recovery partition (I blame 3 cups of coffee and a long time between using QTParted), and Lenovo was nice enough to send me out a Recovery DVD set. The support tech told me that since my model is a custom built, that the DVDs would have to be custom made and then shipped out to me. So here's my question:
When Lenovo makes a custom media set, do they include all recent OS and softwrae updates with it (perhaps on the supplemental CD?)? Or will I have to re-download all of the updates when I do my "recovery" like I've always had to do with other manufacturers?
Thanks!
Jon.

Re: Question Regarding Custom-Built Recovery DVD Sets
There is nothing called custom recovery disk, atleast I haven't ever heard or come across. The tech must had used the term "custom" in a sense that the part number corresponding to your machine type wasn't available and had to be prepaired/created/ordered.Jon Westfall wrote:snip.........The support tech told me that since my model is a custom built, that the DVDs would have to be custom made and then shipped out to me.........snip
It all depends on the date the image is created for these Product Recovery disks, normally once installed you'll have to update the drivers since software/driver updates from Windows and lenovo are made available regularly but the images for these disks are not updated that quickly on a regular short-term interval basis to reflect those changes.Jon Westfall wrote:snip.......do they include all recent OS and softwrae updates with it (perhaps on the supplemental CD?)? Regarding installation/using the disks please refer to the following thread:
FAQ "How to use Recovery CD Disc Set"
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
