Scrolling = Blurring, is this normal?

#1 Post by Dave5049 » Sat Nov 06, 2004 9:26 am

I'm new to laptops so I know very little about them, I just got this T23 a few weeks ago, anyway when I scroll down webpages all the words blurr out and it gives me a headache of I do it alot!!!! It plays DVD's fine so I was just wondering if all laptops did this or can I change a setting somewhere to correct it? I don't have this problem with my 19" flat screen CRT monitor.

Yes, it's normal. It's called "ghosting" which occurs on LCDs, and to a much greater extent on older LCDs with higher/slower response times. Basically, it takes a significant amount of time for a pixel to turn on or off due to the inherent nature of LCDs, which is why you see blurring.

You might want to disable Window's smooth scrolling to alleviate the problem, since it won't do as many screen updates each scroll.

Thanks for the tip, turning off smooth scrolling helps a lot :D
