Loud chatter under keyboard/mouse buttons

#1 Post by RedGreen » Sun Oct 14, 2007 7:08 pm

I had a loud chatter come from under my mouse buttons and the bottom of the keyboard (mostly on the left side).

This started on my four day old machine. I shut it down and started it back up, the chatter hasn't started back up again after running the machine for a half hour.

Im trying to figure out what could be making the noise, where can I find a diagram of the layout of the internals of this machine?

Any ideas about this issue of mine would be really helpful?

7668-CTO, its an X61s with internal EVDO.

I have used the machine for a couple hours after I rebooted and the noise still hasnt come back. I am going to call lenovo tomorrow, But in the meantime I have classes and really need to use it so hopefully I dont end up aggravating any problem.

Few people on T6x forum mentioned the high pitched noise comes from the processor and is common on Dell and HP notebooks too, a member even posted a link to another forum leading to two youtube videos of Dell and HP making that noise:

T6x thread.

I am not sure if it's the same noise you're experiencing on your machine but you're free to avail your warranty.

Thanks for the fast response. However I do not think this is the same issue that I was having, it sounded to me like my CPU fan was hitting against something. Everything seems to be fine now though, it hasnt repeated the noise after hours of use.

Edit: I did find out where the noise was coming from. For some reason the mic was causing feedback and making the strange noise come out of the speaker. I was really surprised when I muted and it went away, the noise even fooled a couple of my techie friends. I run linux on the thing and I will be playing with its audio settings.
