My new T61p shipped on saturday (!) and they attempted to deliver it today, but unfortunately I'm unexpectedly out of town and had to reschedule delivery for thursday.
In the meantime, I'm curbing the drooling urge by looking at the parts list for my serial number. I'm trying to find out if I got the LG-Philips or the samsung panel, but that's hard since I have 2 FRUs listed. Both of these lines are in the parts list:
42X3997 42T0408 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU YES
42T0360 42T0361 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU YES
From what I've been able to discern from the forum, one of these FRU numbers is for the LG panel, and the other for the samsung panel. Is it normal to have 2 listed? i.e. are they just trying to confuse me?
It looks like I have the ALPS keyboard - not NMB, but not chicony. Can't complain about that one.
Thanks in advance
Two different LCD FRUs listed for my new T61p?

Hmm, interesting. I'll let you know which one I end up with.
Erik, by looking at your list of retired thinkpads, I'm assuming you had flexview (IPS) at least on the t42p? If that's correct, how do you feel about the t42p screen with flexview vs t61p without? I'm really glad to hear you're liking the samsung WUXGA
I'm a bit nervous about my transition from 15" SXGA+ to 15.4" WUXGA

i had IPS UXGA on the T42p and R50p and non-IPS UXGA on the A22p. the resolution didn't take long to get used to as pixels are only about 10% smaller. vista does a great job with text scaling even though i didn't find server 2003/XP to be that bad on this screen. viewing angles aren't as good as IPS but they really aren't that bad. color accuracy is great after calibration. if you don't have a hardware calibrator then you can cheat the system by knocking the blue channel gamma down by about 15%.
i think you'll be happy with this screen. give it about a week and you won't want to go back to anything with less real estate.
