What are correct part numbers for T30 motherboard?

#1 Post by motero99 » Wed Oct 17, 2007 12:58 pm

Based on the response to another question I posted, it looks like I have ot replace either the motherboard or cpu on my daughter's 2366-41U. I have seen motherboard/cpu combos on EBAY. How do I find out what are the appropriate mb part numbers for her model of T30? I believe there were 2 different types of MB's used in the T30 and myy guess that was associated with the type of LCD. I guess this is a good time to upgrade the processor as well. What is the max processor speed allowable for this T30? thank you

The two main motherboard types, 2366 and 2367, use the same LCD. Their main differences are in the optional components. They are cross compatible other than things like bluetooth and fingerprint reader. If you have them, you may need to be more picky about what one you buy. As for processor, they CAN go up to 2.6ghz with the correct fan and bios. I'd recommend a 2.2 or 2.4 with the latest bios if you have a processor under 1.8 (it's not really worth it at or after 1.8, but opinions differ on this.) It's also usually a better speed boost to max out the RAM (for the slots that work.)

Hope this helps,

If you open the lid at the bottom where the modem card is, you should see the motherboard FRU.
Check that in the Hardware Maintenance Manual.
There are 2 different types mobo, and each can come with or without security chip. So check it out!
Main difference is in the fan assembly for the CPU.
These boards are NOT interchangeable (apart from with or without sec chip).

Okay, new info to me, as I ran a 2366 in place of my 2367 for quite a while...

2366 and 2367 are the same machines, but the 2367 usually has the better warranty specs.
It's the 3-letter MODEL after the 4-digit type that indicates what is inside.
