R60 light/high fan noise

#1 Post by snessiram » Wed Oct 17, 2007 1:16 pm

I sometimes hear a very light and high tone coming from my thinkpad R60 possibly caused by the fan (which doesn't run really hard or something, more like 3000-4000rpm). I haven't been able to check it out too much yet as it often disappears after a shot period.

Also note that I have heard noises coming from my macbook too, and I think even my samsung 205BW lcd has made some... so it MIGHT just be normal.

Anyone else experiencing this? I've seen several threads on fan noise from T4x and a recent one on the T6x. However, if I understand right the problem there is rather the fan running too hard/much then making a high sound... (I could be wrong)
Also note that I have the core duo, so the "problem-free" one in that latest topic.

I'm also wondering what exactly needs to be set (in bios etc) to allow fan control in the os (with some tool?) and if it's smart/stupid to choose that.
