Hello,
I have the following problem in using RR4:
I use my Thinkpad T60p at two locations. At the first I have a network for storing backups while at the second the network is inaccessible, and I use a USB drive instead. Today I encountered the situation that on initiation of RR it continued to attempt to connect to the network (which was inaccessible), and the GUI never appeared. How can I force it to ignore the network?
Regards,
TPBV

You can setup Rescue and Recovery in such a manner that when you're away from the network your backups will only be stored on the USB hard drive.
I haven't consulted it but you can customize TVT.TXT according to your requirements referring to the Thinkvantage Rescue and Recovery Deployment Guide.

Your first backup location should be USB hard drive and second "none". If I'm not wrong then Rescue and Recovery wouldn't delete the backup from the inaccessible network without your permission.IBM Redbooks* wrote:For example, assume you have the local hard drive checked. You have created backups on the local drive. When you check another option, for example Network, new backups will be created on the local hard drive and the network hard drive. Conversely by unchecking the location boxes, you will delete the backups in those locations.
The second option to delete backups is to clear backup locations from the Set schedule and preferences window. This window allows you to clear previously selected devices. When you clear the check box for a device, Rescue and Recovery no longer save backups to that device, and a dialog box opens asking if you want to delete the backups that are stored on that device.
If you do not delete the stored backups, and if the device is later selected again, previous backups contained on the device will be overwritten by new backup operations.
